Literary Luminary-Christoffer

This time we read to page 132 from page 98. I was Literary Luminary. I really found this part of the book very interesting and chose some interesting passages.

1. Page 103, Para. 2. I chose this passage because O thought that it was very interesting it also made me wonder who the figure was. Lastly I really liked how the author described the scene.

2. Page 121 Para. 3. I chose this passage because I thought the part where it says "Holy Cow" was very funny.

3. Page 121 Para. 1. I chose this passage because I can't believe that Ken and Toby are now friends with the participants of the Egypt Game. Now they are turning into very good friends.

4. The whole book. The whole book connects with the unit that we had in Humanities about Egypt.

I was the Illustrator this time due to the fact that I never was the Illustrator for "The Egypt Game". My drawing was to represent something that was not mentioned so much in "The Egypt Game". It was about Melanie's and April's opinion about Gypsies and how The Egypt Game was to come together and have fun over the course of the Summer and Fall, even if their was tons and tons of problems through out the time for example the kidnappers and the conspiracies about the Professor who lived across the street, but also that Melanie,April and Marshal denied and later Elizabeth, lied to their parents and risked their lies for a simple game that was about Ancient Egypt.

The Egypt Game- Zilpha Keatley Snyder

THE EGYPT GAME

Illustrator

The illustration I drew, is of the four children walking to The Great Pyramids, which symbolizes Elizabeth, April, Melanie and Marshall’s journey to The Egypt Game.
In the bottom left corner, the university town in which the children were trick-or-treating is portrayed. These two illustrations are joined into one. Under the veil of darkness the four children were secretly getting away from the group of youngsters, which were being supervised by the two adults, to get to their destination.
The excursion was extremely risky, especially when there was a murderer on the loose.

The illustration covers the text in the chapters.

                                                              Travel Tracer

My job was Travel Tracer. For my job I wrote down in the "Where the action begins" that the action began at Melanie's and April's school. The action happens when the students of  April's and Melanie's class learn about Egypt. The topic of Oracles show up and the class is hooked. When learning about Oracles, Toby knew the teacher was also hooked about that topic and asked her to give further explanation on Oracles. He did that so that she would speak a lot and miss a hard test. The plan worked and worked so well that the students were very fascinated about the topic.
In the next part of my work.... I gave a list about where and what happens.
1. The Egyptians decide to transfer their knowledge of Oracles to Egypt.
2. April organizes an assembly in Egypt for who becomes the Oracle.
3. April becomes the Oracle of Egypt.
4. Egypt becomes better.
My last part of my job... I wrote that the end happens at the end of the chapter. The action is the discovery of Oracles that will stay in the book until the end!

Petar Artful Artist Blog 2

In our second meeting for the Egypt game my job was to be the artful artist. The artful artists job is to find an interesting part from the chapters and make an illustration of it. I drew a picture of Melanie and April preparing for the Egypt game. Unfortunatly the illustration got lost so I wasn't able to upload a picture of it. The reason Why I chose to illustrate this specific action of the story was because it seemed as if it was the rising action. The picture wasn't very detailed but it was clear to see the intention of the drawing. I drew April with her big eyelashes and Melanie as a normal girl with a bit longer hair than an ordinary girl. I used markers to color it and the main colors i used were brown blue and yellow. In conclusion I think that the group members liked the illustration and I think that the discussion went well.

discussion director Petar BLOG 1

The book we are currently reading is an adventure book called the Egypt Game which was written by Zilpha Keatley Snyder. The book has won a Newberry award in the year 1967. My job was the discussion director, Which is when you have to give certain questions that the group would be willing to discuss. The thirty five pages we were supposed to read were mainly focused on describing the main characters and the setting. My first question or demand was if a member of the group could summarize what happened in a specific chapter. For this question everyone briefly summarized what happened which was great because it meant that everyone read what they were supposed to. My second question was related to connections, I asked the group members if they had any connections to the story. Nina told us a very interesting story about a man and women, relatively old people, who called the police for no reason because Nina and her friend were playing in the grass. In my third question I asked the group members to share their thoughts about the book, who their favorite character is and why. The answers for this question were simple and one sided, everyone chose Melanie. My last but not least question was what do you think will happen next? Everyone suspected that it would have to do something with the professor and because of my further reading it was indeed true that the topic of the next several chapters was the professor. Overall the discussion was very good, everyone stayed on topic and the answers to most of the questions were detailed and interesting.

Nina Discussion Director

This week I was discussion director. I had lot's of different questions but I think that my questions should be a bit more detail.

My Question:
1. Do you think that the professor is the killer? I think that he is not the killer but that he has something to do with the killer, like that he knows what happened or that he knows who the killer is.

2. How did you feel when you found out that the girl was killed? I was very shocked and I didn't know why that happened, I thought that the book would be about Egypt and that no one would die.

3. Do you like halloween? I really like halloween because you get to dress up as anything and you get lot's of candy. I also like that you get to hang out with your friends and do creepy and scary stuff (like scaring other people).

4. What would you do if you found out that a child was killed in your town (street)? I would be pretty shocked and I would ask my parents if we could go out of town until they found the killer. But it would be fun to feel a bit scared :).

5. What do you think will happen next? I think that the kids will meet the professor in his backyard and that they will ask him questions. I also think that the kids will be in trouble because they left the group and went to the professors backyard.

Literacy Circles- Christoffer

This discussion we read to page 98. This time I was Illustrator.

I drew the part where April, Melanie, Elizabeth and Marshall are playing or participating in the Egypt Game. I drew this scene because the Egypt Game is the main thing/setting in the book.

The Egypt Game - Summarizer - Lola

Summarizer

Today I was summarizer and we read the book from page 35 to page 67...

At the beginning, since Melanie and April became friends, the continued hanging out together everyday. Then one day in August, in the library, the Egypt game began. Then in September, April and Melanie took the Egypt game to the Professors backyard. They found a statue of Nefertiti in the Professors backyard. Melanie and April pulled all the weeds and cleaned the backyard. They turned an old shed into a temple. They wanted and succeeded to create an Egyptian atmosphere. They started making some games. They had one when Melanie's little brother, Marshal, was known as Pharaoh Marshamosis. They even created an evil god called Set. While Marshal, Melanie and April were building their game, the Professor started watching them. They don't notice him. Melanie doesn't want April to wear her fake eyelashes to school so she hid them. Dorothea, April's mom, isn't writing to April and April is getting worried. At school April, at first, was such a diva. But later, all of the boys started liking her because of her daring attitude. All of the boys in school gave April a nickname. It was February. The girls and Marshal tidied up the backyard and continued making an Egyptian atmosphere. They also made more games. Then one day, a new girl moved into the Casa Rosada. She was a Chinese girl called Elizabeth Chung. She became friends with Melanie and April. After a lot of thinking, Melania and April told Elizabeth about the Egypt Game!

The Egypt Game Literature Circles-Christoffer

This time we read to page 67. My job during this discussion was being the discussion director. My job was to come up with different questions. Here are my questions:

1. Would you like to take part in the Egypt Game? Why?
I would like to take part in the Egypt Game because I think it would be a fun way to learn about the Egyptians and act like how they behaved during the time of Ancient Egypt.

2. Would you like to be friends with April and Melanie? Why?
I would be friends with them because they are kind and imaginative. They are also mentally strong even when they get teased they don't just get teased they are strong and do somethings about it.

3. How do you feel when you come to a new school?
When I came to ISB I felt nervous and anxious. I felt nervous and scared because I didn't know anyone, but after some time when I get to know more and more people and begin to feel more comfortable.

4. What do you think will happen next?
I think that the children taking part in the Egypt Game will meet or interfere with the professor in some way.

5. Do you think that there will be any friendship problems in this boo? Why?
I think that there won't be any friendship problems between April and Melanie because right now Melanie has only one friend how is April, and April only has one friend who is Melanie. I also think this because right now they are really good friends and really enjoy being together.

The Egypt Game

Zilpha Kealtey Snyder

Nobody knows exactly what the the meaning of  A-Z is. His name was unknown by the inhabitants of a large university town in California. He was nicknamed the ‘professor’ by the community of Orchard Avenue. He owned a small dusty shop on the corner of a road. It was full of various antiques, covering every shelf there was. His black ominous eyes followed you around the shop. He was like a lonely shadow lurking around the cheerful Orchard Avenue.
After working hard and long the old man spotted three young children playing in his storage yard. An African-American young boy, and two girls. They frolicked through the weeds, laughing, moving statues and cleaning the area. The storage yard was speckless. The professor was amazed, but it was reminiscent of something. It reminded him of Egypt.
April Hall (April Dawn) entered the Casa Rosada. She lived with her grandmother because her mother Dorothea was on a worldwide tour. April was a lonely, woeful girl waiting for her parent to come back. She was a skinny eleven year old ,with stone cold blue eyes and almost golden blonde hair.
Entered Melanie, Marshall and his plushie octopus Security. These children are both pleasant individuals. Marshall was a four year old boy. He had black hair and black eyes.
Melanie was an eleven year old girl. She also had black hair and black eyes. Melanie was extremely adventurous and had a slender body.
Marshall was a naughty and incredibly mischievous. He was very curious about the world and was mesmerized by his plushie octopus.

Summarize Ben April 19,2016

I was the summarize and I think that I picked the right time to be summarize since it was very interesting and  engaging. What ha pend in the story was the following: April, Marshall and Melaney went to play the Egypt Game for a second time, while the next day they all went to school and then until 5:30 played the Egypt Game and always influenced Marshall to be part of the Egypt Game as a king. A new girl moved into the Casa Rosata her name was Elizabeth and she moved in with her two sisters and her mom since her dad died days before. April and Melaney where figuring out whether to bring Elizabeth into the Egypt Game,  days  followed so they invited Elizabeth to the Egypt game to make  it  more fun and exiting  for all of them until when one day Mrs.Rose told that a girl was killed on the streets near the Casa Rosata and that all of them must stay inside to be extra safe since this was not the first time that this kind of crime happend and that a boy the year before met the same fate. So all the girls and Marshall played the Egypt Game inside and all o them knew it was not the same thing as outside.

                                                            Literary Luminary
The page that I chose was page fifty three and paragraph three. What happened in this portion of the book was the advanced arrangements of the Egypt Game. The reason I chose that paragraph and page was because of the detail and description of the arrangements, it showed good detail and description when the author wrote about the broken down statues, the dead flower gardens laying around and the decorations on the evil god, Set.
The other page that I chose was page fifty nine and paragraph one. The reason for choosing this area of the book is due to the emergence of the new family which is moving into the Casa Rosada. This occurrence may put the Egypt Game in jeopardy because the new family's daughter (named Elizabeth)  seems interested in the topic and looks forward to uncovering the secrets held in the professors backyard.
The page that I chose was page sixty six and paragraph two. I chose that page and paragraph because that area contains the involvement of Elizabeth in the Egypt Game. This action may lead to the ending of the Egypt Game even though Elizabeth makes a really good Nefertiti.
Another page that I chose was page seventy and paragraph one. The reason for this is because there was a killing involved, there was a little girl who was roaming around the safe neighborhood then the girl was kidnapped and killed. Her body was found in a nearby marshland. This is important because due to this the parents decided to keep the children at home and not let them play their game.
The paragraph that I chose was paragraph one in page seventy three. What happened in that portion was that the professor was a huge suspect in the case of the murdered girl. The police showed up multiple times at the professors house and then people started making rumors. This is important because now there is a bigger jeopardy because they play the Egypt Game in his backyard.

The Egypt Game - Connector - Lola

Connector

Today, I was connector. These are my connections...

1. On page 17 and 18 it said ... "It looked almost Egyptian and April had always been especially interested in Egyptian stuff." I, myself, am also very interested in Egyptian stuff. From items to its history, I am very interested.

2. On page 22 it said... "On that same day in August, just a few minutes before twelve, Melanie Ross arrived at the door of Mrs. Hall's apartment on the third floor." I myself live on the third floor in my building.

3. On page 22 it said... "Today, Melanie had been sent up to get Mrs. Hall's granddaughter to come down and have lunch with the Rosses." Since Mrs. Hall lives on the third floor and it says Melanie had been sent up to get Mrs. Halls granddaughter, we know that Melanie lives on the second floor. There is a girl who recently moved into the floor underneath me, second floor. I am yet to meet her.

4. Nina's Connection - There is the creepy, old man, in the book, who works in the A - Z Antiques Shop. Nina's connections is... I was in Zlatibor with my brothers friends and we were playing outside at night. Suddenlly an old man and his wife came out and they started taking videos of us. Then they called the police because we ding dong ditched them. Then the police came but then just left. The next day, the grandparents came out and started taking pictures again, and then left us.

Everyone is scared of one person, that person is called Professcer. He’s very tall and bent and his beard straggled up his cheeks like dry moss on gray rocks. His eyes were dark and expressionless and set so deep under heavy browse. Professor’s job is a shop keeper. The Egypt game is created by 2 children. One of them is called April and the other child is called Melanie. April’s mom is a movie star or kind of like a movie star. Both April and Melanie loves Egypt that is why they create the “Egypt Game”. Before the “Egypt Game” was played the children loves one place, the place is called “A-Z” shop. In the shop, there is some very old Egypt stuff.

I decide to exhibit the surroundings of April's apartment, (Casa Rosada), because the way the Author described the scene was so splendid, he is truly eloquent. I could easily follow the writing and draw from the data I collected. I drew a doughnut store which was on the right of a florist and then I drew a billboard which was tall. To be a little bit original, on the billboard I drew my friend. In the book it says specifically that there is a facade with bad windows and messed up doors, I drew it. On
the far left of my exhibit was the Casa Rosada.

I was the connector and it was an average job, it was not the most difficult and not the most simple of work to complete. The book that we started was The Egypt Game by Zilpha Keatly Snyder. My first connection was when April thought of Caroline's a person who was neither interesting or noticing at all anything, my connection to that is when I am sad or impressed I think of other people as humans  who do not understand a singe thing or even lived through such stuff, but eventually I change my mind about them. The second and last connection was when Melanie and her sort of friend April spend one entire moth together playing and bonding. My connection is that my best friend Teodoras(from Lithuania) and I play every summer none stop from 9 am too 12 pm football and it is something I still treasure that I still keep up an enormous capacity inside off passion for the beautiful game.

I think that he is a really strange and weir person and his behaviour is kind of scary.
In our group everybody agreed on this answer  everybody thinks he is really weird.

   How did they described professor?
They described that he is tall and he is banded because he is really old. He ignore everybody and he would not talk a lot for example some kids were shouting at him and he just ignored like he can't see them.  Everybody agreed but Tony gave a lot of good examples because he was a summerizer.

Where did they play the Egypt game and who was watching them playing?
They played Egypt game in professors back yard they sneaked in but they didn't know he was watching them through his window. Everybody answered the same with shows that all of us read carefully but Alex added that they moved some of the things in garden.

I think this book is really good it is mysterious and i really like how it's explained good so i can understand everything.
